Delicious espresso martinis BUT BETTER . Ask for their passion fruit martinis if you want to go home with your heart full & belly asking for more. Enticing i know. So I won't tease my schpeel of the arepas de platanitos. Instead .. I'll lay it easy on you & let you have a visual picture of what the food looks like. Cheers
I. AM. STUFFED. I was humming as I was eating. Savoring each bite. Food was amazing! Full of flavor! The textures! I've been here before, but THIS visit was really nice! I sat at the bar and was greeted and immediately serviced. Placed my order with the friendly and welcoming staff and I GOT TO WORK. I'm stuffed. Drinks were great! Effective! Would absolutely recommend. So so very full. I didn't want it to end.
Food is excellent. Drinks are excellent. Atmosphere is charcharming. I ordered the corn on the cob, empanadas and arepa de cerdo and a blueberry margarita. Food and drinks are flavorful. A definite recommendation.
My experience at Mais Arepas was fantastic! The food? Absolutely delicious. Our group of five kicked things off with the empanadas, and let me tell you, they were gone in a flash. Five empanadas in one order--just enough for us, but honestly, we were so tempted to order another round. But we held back, saving room for the main event: the arepas! Now, I will say there's a bit of a wait for the food, but honestly, I didn't mind one bit because everything came out freshly made and totally worth it. We each tried a different arepa, and I went with the Cerda arepa--pure divine goodness. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, and my friends were all equally thrilled with their choices. I wasn't drinking alcohol that night, so I went for the passion fruit juice, and it was super refreshing. Their fruit juices are a must-try! Overall, it was a great time--delicious food, awesome vibes, and the prices are seriously on point. Can't wait to go back!
Started off with a blackberry margarita. Very fresh. We had the corn appetizer which was amazing and very flavorful. Also had the pulled pork arepa and pork melted in your mouth and very flavorful as well. I am obsessed with this place. Our waiter was very nice. Restaurant had full tables but not too full. We did have to make a reservation.
One of the best restaurants I experienced in New Orleans. The food was amazing and authentic. The service was friendly and the waitress was informative. The ambiance is fun and casual. This is a must try restaurant while visiting. A great change when you're tired of traditional Cajun cuisine.
I visited Mais Arepas because it is one of the only 100% gluten free restaurants in the city, and I had a friend with celiac in town. The food was fabulous! This was my first time trying an arepa and I was blown away! The flavors were wonderful and the plain rain chips were excellent! If you go with a bigger group, I highly recommend splitting the sangria pitcher
With its tasteful interior design, beautiful presentations and perfectly-prepared base ingredients (arepa bread, sauces, reductions - all made in house!) this Colombian establishment is unparalleled in New Orleans. Mula in a copper tin - well executed and high quality ingredients. Caipirinha - calming on the eyes with its white glow and candied lime. Again, on point with its preparation and investment in foundation components. While the cocktails are excellent, the arepas are the stars of the experience. All of them - and the sauce combinations - are top shelf. I love the shrimp and chorizo the most (the chorizo is so delicious and the gulf shrimp is large and perfectly seasoned), and... there is a reason to try every single one - the mechada (skirt steak), the cerda (roasted pulled pork), the carnicera (wagyu)... there are others and even a delicious grilled vegetable option. I am not one to order plantain chips when given the option - but they do make them in house, so they are probably the best you will ever eat. I do adore fried fresh plantains. Careful - you only got the latter on the current menu when ordering the dishes that have them as an accompaniment. I have tried to negotiate substitution, but they held their ground. Then, the service is truly so kind and attentive that Debayn made it happen anyway (with no knowledge that I love to post reviews). The plantains he brought out are what dreams are made of - now that you know, please don't ask to substitute. Just order the dish that has fried fresh plantains to begin with (that will influence my selection next time!) - there are reasons for the combinations. My multiple experiences here attest to how deeply the staff desire that your experience is excellent. The maracuyá flan is made with fresh passion fruit found both in its foundation and in an exquisite reduction moat, and the custard, which is perfect in its composition and freshness, and is topped with mint leaves and ripe berries. Unbelievable. An authentic Colombian jewel in the crescent city.
Yum, Yum & YUM! The food was spectacular, the service was on point, and the vibe made me feel like I was in another local country! I really enjoyed Maïs Arepas and plan to go back. The desert was truly divine and I'm not even a huge sweets person. My favorite for sure was the Arepa! If you're looking for a new spot to try, drop on in and support them. p.s. Great Drinks too!
